In this game, the player controls one of the 13 characters carefully picked from the assorted stars of the series, and battles their way through all the opponents with a variety of techniques at their disposal. As the game unfolds the player can equip cards that give them the ability to use new skills, giving the game a growth/collecting element. The number of cards the player can equip is limited, which brings a strategic element to the game play, requiring the player to consider which cards best suit their individual combat style.

Each character has special Hajike and secret skills, as well as hilarious "fusion moves" that they can unleash when combined with other characters. The game is riddled with humor and even boasts 9 mini-games, including "Bobomberman" and "Prukogi X", bringing the Bo-bobo world to life.

The game's Story Mode reveals each character's own highly individual ambitions as they fight for victory, while Battle Mode allows the player to choose their favorite characters and pit them against each other in pairings that never appeared in the original comic or anime. There's also a Link Mode, which allows users to play against or exchange cards with a friend. Up to two players can go head-to-head via GBA link cable and the game even offers GameCube link-up for data swapping.
