Background

Dark Yasha

Dark Yasha is the most powerful Hair Hunter in the entire Maruhage Empire. Teamed up with Katsu, he competes in the New Emperor Playoffs to stop Bo-bobo from reaching Maruhage Castle. He fights Bo-bobo in "Bottle Edge", the first battleground in the playoffs.

Sambaman

A bizarre-looking creature and Dark Yasha's true form. Sambaman's attacks cause anyone who hears and/or witnesses them to begin dancing. When he's defeated, he asks to join the Rebels, which Bo-bobo responds to by strapping him to a rocket and launching him into space.

Personality

Dark Yasha

Dark Yasha is a fairly serious man, having no quirks and being very hard to rattle. However, the antics of Bo-bobo, Don Patch, and Tennosuke gradually wear his patience thin during his battle with them.

Even though he's the Maruhage Empire's "highest official", it's unknown what kind of relationship he has with those he'd have authority over (similar to Giga, the Four Heavenly Kings, and the Block leaders). Dark Yasha and Katsu apparently agreed to work together in the playoffs, but he never interacts with the latter and has no concern over his defeat.

Sambaman

In contrast to the serious Dark Yasha, Sambaman is eccentric and would rather sing and dance than fight. As a result, even the likes of Bo-bobo, Don Patch and Tokoro Tennosuke see him as more of an annoyance than a threat. However, he does take his love of samba very seriously, and is still aware of his rank in the empire and can get genuinely hostile if he wants to.

Abilities & Powers

Dark Yasha

Dark Yasha is the master of the "Dokuro Shinken" (ドクロ真拳, True Fist of the Skull), giving him the power to reanimate skeletons, manipulate a "skull sword", and place seals on his opponents that force their bones out of their bodies. Furthermore, he can transform into a demonic state using a special "Skull Sake" (Skull Juice in the anime). He also has a special juice that make people ugly, but it ends up turning Bo-bobo and Don Patch into fruits, and Tokoro Tennosuke into a pizza delivery man.

Sambaman

Sambaman's primary powers are his singing and dancing, which can overpower other people and make them sing and dance along with him. His only real form of offense, however, are a pair of fire batons, which he uses as a last resort if his singing and dancing doesn't work.

Trivia

  • Being a white-haired male with an aggressive personality, and a nonsensical transformation makes him similar to OVER (and later Shiryuen Kamara). Whether or not there was any connection between them, was never revealed.
  • For reasons unknown, Dark Yasha's name is never referred to in the English dub of anime.
  • He's the last Hair Hunter from the fourth era of the Maruhage Empire the Rebels ever fight, as the Rebels turn their attention to the Reverse Maruhage Empire when they appear.
